Abstract

Modern optimal estimation theory has been widely used in GNSS and multi-sensor integration based positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) systems, as well as geospatial mapping. To obtain reliable and optimal positioning, mapping, navigation and timing results, however, both functional and stochastic models of the sensor measurements/system dynamics need to be defined properly. Therefore, major efforts have been being made to seek fundamental understanding of the statistical and geometric characteristics inherent within the measurements from various sensors. Such knowledge is then used to design robust modelling and quality control procedures for GNSS and multi-sensor navigation systems, towards reliable and seamless positioning, mapping, navigation and timing solutions for various applications.

This invited presentation will focus on modelling and quality control conceptual framework for GNSS and integrated positioning, mapping, navigation and timing systems, reviews recent progress, as well as discuss the challenging issues, in developing modern integrity monitoring theory and algorithms for use in positioning, mapping, navigation and timing systems towards various applications.
